The USA has sanctioned the state prosecutor of BiH
The head of the Prosecutor's Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Diana Kajmaković, has been sanctioned by the United States due to continuous attempts to undermine democracy and the rule of law in the country, but also due to corruption scandals, the State Department confirmed last night.
Persons placed on Washington's "black list" are not allowed to travel to the United States and their property in the country is frozen, the ban also extends to the closest relatives.
- When it comes to the Western Balkans, one of the goals is to work with the governments and peoples of the region to target, remove and eradicate corruption. Sanctions are an important tool in realizing that, said spokesman Ned Price.
He added that the sanctions announced by the US Department of Justice relate to a state attorney general who engaged in acts of corruption.
-Despite the obligations to avoid malpractices in the performance of the prosecutor's duty, Dijana Kajmaković is a flagrant example of a corrupt state prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina, connected to criminal organizations, according to a statement from the Ministry.
After Joe Biden came to power, the American institutions are taking measures for the fourth time against persons who, among other things, are responsible or have participated in corruption or undermining of democratic processes or institutions in the Western Balkans.
