The United States has announced that it will send another 53 million dollars in humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel is at war with Hamas.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said aid would come through the World Food Program and non-governmental organizations as Israel and Western powers shunned the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA).

USAID Director Samantha Power stressed that aid must reach the people who need it and that aid workers in Gaza who are risking their lives to bring food to people in desperate need must be protected.

As of October 7, 2023, since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, the United States has sent a total of $180 million in emergency aid to the Palestinians.
