USA wins fifth consecutive gold, Steph Curry demolishes France in dramatic finish
The basketball team of the United States is the winner of the gold medal at The Olympic Games in Paris. The Americans defeated the host in the final match France with a score of 98:87. This is the USA's fifth straight gold at the Olympics, a dominance that stretches back to 2008.
The French entered the game well, were competitive and did not allow the opponent to finish the job in the first 10 minutes. After the first part, the Americans had only five points advantage, 20:15.
The French managed to take the lead in the second quarter, Yabusele and Wembanyama played well, but they couldn't do it alone and there was literally no long shot for the home team. It cost them dearly, so the USA punished and made a series with which they went to a 10-point difference, and at the break they left with "plus eight" (49:41).

In the third period, Steve Kerr's team gained an advantage of 14 points (61:47), but France did not give up and managed to return to the match. With Evan Fournier's three-pointer three minutes before the end of the third period, the "tricolors" got closer to "minus six" (65:59).
The French took advantage of the fact that the Americans were not at full throttle, so after 30 minutes they were still in the game (72:66). The Americans made a lot of mistakes, with three minutes to go, with Vembanyama's points, France was only "minus three" negative (82:79).

Curry led the USA in this match with 24 points, Durant and Booker each scored 15, and James 14. For France, Victor Wembanyama scored 26 points, and Gershon Yabusele scored 20. Earlier in the match for the bronze medal, the Serbian national team defeated Germany.
