The US is asking Turkey to persuade Iran to reduce tensions in the Middle East

The United States is asking Turkey and other allies that maintain relations with Iran to persuade it to reduce tensions in the Middle East, said the American ambassador to Turkey, Jeff Flake.

- We ask all our allies who have any relations with Iran to persuade it to de-escalate, and that includes Turkey - Flake said at a round table with journalists in Istanbul at the end of his term in Turkey - the British media reported.

According to him, Washington's Turkish interlocutors are doing everything they can to prevent escalation and they seem more confident than the United States that this will not happen.
