Russian state television released footage of students learning how to fly drones. Media reports the training course is 270 hours and the instructors are local teachers who have undergone professional training.

The Russian authorities announced that they plan to open 45 such training places in educational institutions in the Volgograd region.

The basics of drone control should become part of the general education curriculum for schoolchildren from September 1 this year, according to the new educational standard of the Russian Ministry of Education.

The discipline will be taught as part of the new Basics of Homeland Security and Defense course, which is essentially an expanded life safety lesson to include basic military training in higher grades.

The plan is to teach the course to students from grades 8-11, but some schools for younger children are already introducing drone control content.
