Russian military personnel are being trained in Iran to use the Fat-360 missile system
Dozens of Russian soldiers have been sent to Iran for training in the use of the Fat-360 short-range ballistic missile system. writes Reuters.
European intelligence sources confirmed in a statement to the media that representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense signed an agreement on December 13 in Tehran with Iranian officials for the Fat-360 and another ballistic missile system built by the Iranian government's aerospace industry organization called Ababil.
One of the sources noted that the "only possible next" step after the training would be the actual delivery of the missiles to Russia, but could not confirm when that might happen.
The United States refused to confirm the information about the possible delivery of ballistic missiles, but John Kirby, coordinator of the National Security Council at the White House, emphasized that NATO and the G7 allies are ready for a "quick and sharp response if Iran makes such a transfer." .
Iran's Fat-360 short-range surface-to-surface missiles have a diameter of 300 mm and weigh 850-1100 kg.
Launchers can be based on a wheeled truck that can be disguised as a civilian vehicle.
It is also assumed that the new Iranian missile system will be able to use the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system.
