This morning, the Russian air defense forces shot down several air targets on the approach to Belgorod, and shells hit two children's camps, in an attack in which, according to initial data, there were no casualties, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"Our air defense system worked over Belgorod and the Belgorod region, several air targets were shot down on the approach to the city, there were no preliminary casualties," Gladkov wrote on Telegram.

He stated that in Belgorod the auxiliary building in one children's camp and the stadium in another were damaged by direct hits of grenades, as well as that dry grass on an area of ​​50 square meters caught fire.

In addition, according to the claims of the Russian official, minor material damage was caused to several private residential buildings in two villages in the Belgorod district, following the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As Gladkov pointed out, all operational services are working in the field, and the information about the consequences of this attack is still being determined.

Earlier, the Russian media reported that this morning a series of explosions took place in the center of Belgorod at the moment when a missile threat was declared in that Russian city near the border with Ukraine.

A series of explosions were heard in the area of ​​Belgorod's central square as the air raid siren sounded.

Then, about 15 minutes later, another series of twenty explosions rang out in the city.

"The missile threat in Belgorod and the Belgorod region has been canceled after more than an hour," Gladkov announced.
