Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandar Grushko believes that the Council of Europe is no longer an organization that promotes the unity of the European peoples, so it makes no sense for Russia to return there. He expressed this assessment in today's interview for "Parliamentska Gazeta".

The Russian diplomat recalled that according to Article 1 of the Statute, the Council of Europe was established to achieve greater unity of European nations.

- Western efforts turned it into something opposite. It makes no sense to return to such an organization, concluded Grushko.
