The Russian Embassy in Serbia has said it does not recognize the Kosovo government's decision to declare two Russian diplomats undesirable.

- We do not recognize the "independence" of Kosovo, and thus the "Government" of the province and other "structures". For us, no "decisions" of Pristina have legal force. "Based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244, we are cooperating with UNMIK on this issue," the press service of the Russian Embassy said.

The embassy said that attempts by UNMIK-accredited diplomats to prevent them from carrying out their activities in accordance with international law were absolutely unacceptable.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, announced yesterday that, at her request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo declared two officials of the Liaison Office of the Russian Federation in Kosovo "persona non grata" and started a procedure for their expulsion from the country, MIA reports. from Pristina.

According to a statement from Osmani's cabinet, Russian diplomats were declared undesirable in Kosovo "because of their harmful activity, which is directed against the national security and the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo."

- This week I asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Grvala Schwartz, to declare as persona non grata two officials in the Liaison Office of the Russian Federation in Kosovo, due to their harmful activity, which is directed against national security and constitutional order. of the Republic of Kosovo. Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a decision to declare the two diplomats undesirable persons and at the same time informed the legislative institutions and the competent authorities to do the same, Osmani was quoted as saying in the statement.

On this occasion, the President of Kosovo said that "the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are resolute in the fight against the malignant influence of the Russian Federation and its satellites in the region", which, as she said, "seek to undermine the achievements" of Kosovo, US, NATO and EU.

"For that reason, we will continue to work closely with our American and European allies in order to prevent Kosovo and our region from falling victim to the destabilizing ambitions of the Russian Federation," Osmani said.
