Russia: US deep hybrid war over Ukraine will end in Vietnam-style humiliation

Russia has said that US lawmakers' approval of $60,84 billion more in support for Ukraine shows that Washington is moving deeper into a hybrid war with Russia that Moscow says will end in humiliation on a par with Vietnam or Afghanistan.

President Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has sparked the worst crisis in relations between Russia and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, according to US diplomats.CNBC".

The US House of Representatives on Saturday passed a $95 billion legislative package providing security assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan with broad bipartisan support.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said it was clear the US wanted Ukraine to "fight to the last Ukrainian," including by attacking Russian sovereign territory and civilians.

"Washington's deeper and deeper immersion in the hybrid war against Russia will turn into such a loud and humiliating fiasco for the United States as Vietnam and Afghanistan," Zakharova said.

She stressed that ordinary Ukrainians were "forced to be slaughtered as 'cannon fodder'" but that the United States was no longer betting on a Ukrainian victory against Russia.

Western and Ukrainian leaders describe the war in Ukraine as an imperial-style land grab, showing that post-Soviet Russia is one of the two biggest nation-state threats to global stability, along with China.

Putin, however, presents the war as part of a much larger struggle with the United States, which he says ignored Moscow's interests after the collapse of the USSR in 1991 and then plotted to carve up Russia and grab its natural resources.
