Relatives of the victims and survivors of the Besa Trans bus accident on the Struma highway have demanded a parallel investigation into the accident before the Pernik District Court, BNT reported.

As the MIA correspondent from Sofia reports, they are asking for more information about the jewelry worth several thousand euros that the victims had in the burnt bus of "Besa Trans".

The families of the victims are still waiting for the items, owned by their loved ones, which were preserved in the accident. They have been returned by the Bulgarian investigating authorities to Northern Macedonia, but the procedure for identifying the cases has not yet begun.

Kjamuran Pajazitovski stated that there was evidence that his daughter-in-law had jewelry worth seven thousand euros with her during the trip. "Gold does not burn, our authorities should tell us if we have gold, stored luggage or money," Pajazitovski told BNT.

The survivors and relatives of the dead are also seeking a parallel investigation into the causes of the accident, in addition to criminal proceedings initiated by the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office.

The case for securing the evidence was filed before the Pernik District Court. In the Pernik case, experts will re-examine curves, markings, and road infrastructure.

The National Investigation Service of Bulgaria last month identified the non-compliant speed with the existing road conditions as the main version of the accident and stressed that the road infrastructure meets the standards. If it is determined that the sole culprit is the driver, then the criminal proceedings will be terminated. Relatives of the deceased will be entitled to claims from the driver's insurance. The claims will be submitted in Bulgaria, where the limits are in line with European standards and are almost 20 times higher than those in Northern Macedonia, BNT reported.
