Parents accuse Gerasimovski of pressuring a violent child to enroll in a central school, the mayor denies
A group of parents of children who study at the "11 Oktomvri" primary school in the Skopje Municipality of Centar, are outraged by the decision to accept a child who was expelled from several schools due to violent behavior, announced "Republic", which conveys a letter from the parents.
"We are angry at the decision of the director of "11 October" to accept a child who has been expelled from several schools due to violence. In accordance with the Guidelines for the procedure for reporting and protecting a student who is a victim of any form of violence, abuse and neglect and according to the instructions given by the Ministry of Education, "Lazo Angelovski" OOU delivers an urgent notification regarding the inappropriate behavior of a student to the Education Department of the municipality Airport and Department of Education of the Municipality of Centar (specifically for OOU "11 Oktomvri") with which it requests that the schools decide whether they will accept the student. As a last measure according to the Guidelines, the measure is the transfer of a student to another school. According to the request, all schools in the territory of the municipality of Aerodrom and the school 11 October are pronounced negatively, that is, no school accepts the student. After receiving negative responses from all schools, OOU Lazo Angelovski transfers the student to distance learning (online teaching) and informs all competent institutions about it," the parents write.
"Meanwhile, under the pressure of the mayor of the Municipality of Centar, Goran Gerasimovski, the director of "11 Oktomvri" gives consent to the parents for the student to be admitted to her school, the parents bring the consent to the OOU "Lazo Angelovski" and the student is today translation certificate issued by "Lazo Angelovski" OOU for enrollment in "11 Oktomvri" OOU. One of the parents of the problematic child is a former head of the Ministry of the Interior. An emergency meeting of the parents' council is scheduled for tomorrow," the letter added.
These claims are rejected by the mayor of Centar Municipality, Goran Gerasimovski.
"I strongly and categorically deny that I exerted any pressure to enroll a child with violent behavior in regular classes at OOU "11 Oktomvri". I claim that I have neither initiated nor been informed about any procedure regarding the student, and especially not about the involvement of the municipality in such matters. "During tomorrow, the elementary school "11 Oktomvri" will come out with complete information about this case," says the mayor.
Gerasimovski adds that as mayor, he always stands behind principled and legal decisions and that he has no intention of allowing "misinformation that imposes a false image". He asks all involved parties, especially the media, "to refrain from unverified allegations that threaten the integrity of the institution and sow mistrust among citizens."
