A woman from Debar experienced horror in the hospital: Three healthy organs were taken out without telling me
Yeldz Veaposka from Debar, an ambulance nurse, survived a real Golgotha after giving birth in a hospital in Struga by caesarean section, but came out of the operation without a uterus, kidney and one ovary. For this condition in which she is, she requests the Medical Chamber of Macedonia to revoke the license of the director of the Struga hospital and gynecologist who operated on him, Dr. Muhamed Asani.
Dr. Asani, on the other hand, told "Free Press" yesterday that he performed the operation conscientiously. The case reached the Medical Chamber of Macedonia, after the Ministry of Health ordered them to conduct expert supervision from there.
It all started on August 27 last year when Veaposka gave birth to a baby girl.
- Until then, my pregnancy was great, I did not have any problems. We agreed on a date to operate on me. As soon as I woke up from the operation, I had a big stomach ache. They told me not to panic, this is nothing, they stabbed me with pain injections. They left me like that for four days in pain. A few days later, the principal's son tells me to get ready to go home. I told him that he was not talking to an uneducated woman, but to a medical person and that I knew I was not well. My stomach was so swollen that I was less pregnant than I was after giving birth. I felt that my whole body hurt after the operation. I refused to go home unless they wanted to take me out of the hospital in bed. His father came, he told me, go home, you will eat hot soups, it will pass. I tell him, doctor, I'm not home. The tests they did for me in the morning were a disaster. My blood was going down. However, I was fired and I told my husband, come and get me, take me somewhere in Skopje, I am not at home - says Veaposka.
Her husband came to pick her up, and she could not stand up and asked the nurses to help her prepare the baby for departure.
- My husband came to pick me up, the sisters told me to get my baby ready, and I could not stand on my feet. They tell me, why are you acting. At that moment it turned out that I was not acting, because I was in shock, I was shaking all over, I was screaming, I was crying. I called my husband, asked for a doctor, I told him, I am dying. They told my husband that nothing happened to me, it was from my hip. After I was in shock, they put me in a gym, took out my uterus, kidney, ovary and sent me almost dead to Skopje. I did not know anything, later I found out at a private examination in "Sistina" that I have an ovary. You can imagine what I was like - the upset Veaposka tells "Free Press".
She hired a lawyer from Skopje and is determined to seek justice even in the court in Strasbourg if she fails in Macedonia.
- The dismissal letter from Struga does not say what was taken from me. Only that I gave birth by caesarean section, that due to difficulties after the fourth day of the operation, I was sent to Skopje. It does not say that my organs were removed. At the request of my husband, we sent these organs for pathology and the result showed that everything was fine. So, my healthy and straight organs were removed from a 28-year-old woman. This is not done to a dog, let alone a human. I ask the medical chamber to revoke his license - adds the nurse.
However, after giving birth and falling into shock, the saga of the young mother did not end here. She was sent to Skopje, where the recordings showed internal bleeding.
- I have all the documentation from a family doctor that I have never had a kidney disease, that I have never had problems with sand or stones. My aunt is a witness that they asked us for a bribe when I gave birth. I was released for Skopje dead. This is certainly a medical error and there is no way to cover it. But no one reacts. I am asking him to resign or have his license revoked, and I will prosecute him in court. If there is no justice here, I will take it to Strasbourg. Although I worked for eight years as a nurse and I have fought for the lives of patients, now when I go to the hospital I get panic attacks - says Veaposka.
There are no results from the Medical Chamber for professional supervision in the Struga hospital where Dr. Asani is the director.
The Ministry of Health informed yesterday that the case was sent to the Medical Chamber for expert supervision, after which the public will be informed in detail.
