The wife's birthday party could be a "knockout" for Johnson
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces new pressure and anger from the British people after the media reported that his wife had a birthday party for him during the lockdown.
Sue Gray, The senior civil servant who is leading the proceedings over the Downing Street parties, is expected to give more critical recommendations to the court, after it was found out that Carrie Johnson, Boris's wife, organized a birthday party for her husband with as many as 30 guests, writes The Guardian.
British ITV announced that the British Prime Minister attended a party in his office for his 56th birthday. He had previously defended himself, saying such gatherings were only by members of the party's inner circle, who of course work together on a daily basis. But it turned out that other people attended such parties, such as designer Lulu Little, who is not a member of Johnson's Downing Street team at all. The birthday party reportedly lasted half an hour.
The pressure on Johnson is never greater
Johnson has been warned several times in the past that he could lose his job if such allegations continue to emerge.
Last night, the members of the British Parliament were angry after the information about the birthday party during the lockdown.
This is another big blow for Johnson. Given Gray's investigations, which are not yet complete, this could be the final "knockout" for the prime minister.
The Conservatives have already demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister, but he has no intention of such a decision, at least not for now, writes Reuters.
Everything is in the hands of Sue Gray
After Gray announces the final investigation, a final decision on Johnson's future is expected.
The Guardian writes that the Labor Party, Britain's main opposition, is trying to pressure Gray into publishing it, confident that the investigation has enough evidence to support Johnson's resignation and change of government.
