Airbnb bookings reached pre-pandemic levels in July
"Most of the bookings are related to trips that start on or before August 7," Airbnb said in a statement.
The online accommodation booking platform Airbnb said that one million bookings were registered worldwide on July 8, bringing the pre-pandemic level back.
"Most of the bookings are related to trips that start on or before August 7," Airbnb said in a statement.
The increase in bookings is explained by the suppressed demand, adding that most bookings are those with more affordable accommodation prices, at destinations closer to the home countries of travelers.
Demand for accommodation has plummeted in recent months after millions of tourists canceled their planned vacations due to the pandemic.
In such circumstances, the company stopped its marketing activities and reduced the number of employees by a quarter.
