A retrospective exhibition of Vladimir Temkov is set up in Cifte Hamam
The painter Vladimir Temkov has been present on the Macedonian and former Yugoslav art scene since 1980. From that period until today, he participated in numerous exhibitions in Macedonia and in the former SFRY, as well as in many international exhibitions, colonies, symposiums.
On the occasion of the 40-year anniversary of his first solo exhibition on May 31, a retrospective exhibition of his work has been set up in the Cifte Hamam facility at the National Gallery.
- Vladimir Temkov creates his own thematic matrix with common features and composition of elements in linear and chromatic solutions, with which he reaches an interesting level of expressiveness. Although he works on several thematic and conceptual cycles, the interweaving of an already established artistic mode in all cycles and its constant interweaving is evident.
With the idea that color represents the apotheosis of light, he builds from picture to picture, from cycle to cycle, his painting poetics, in which the primary matter is color, as well as the energy it transmits. Temkov's determination does not stem from artistic and stylistic trendy reasons, but, above all, from the necessity of a professional attitude towards work, with creative requirements that enabled him to complete the painting cycle of spatial metaphors as a kind of variations on a theme.
It draws its inspiration from nature and natural resources, as well as from the spiritual sources of human society from various fields, such as literature, history, tradition, music, drama, science, that is, from life itself. His works depict a series of phenomena from nature, but also show his wide cultural horizon, where the visible and spiritual landscapes of his native Tikveshia are presented in a lyrical and expressive way.
In his works, the feeling of freedom dominates - freedom of colors and forms, intertwining of earth and sky, matter and spirit, the shapes of reality, but also of dreams, during which the artist penetrates the multifacetedness of the visible - says the announcement of Temkov's retrospective exhibition .
