A rare Ferrari stolen in 1995 has been recovered by British police
A rare Ferrari stolen 28 years ago from a former Formula 1 driver in London has been recovered by British police. The red Ferrari F512M was delivered to Japan after it was taken from Gerhard Berger in 1995, police said.
The car, worth £350.000, was one of two Ferraris stolen. The other remains missing, he reports BBC.
Officers said they were working with Ferrari and international car dealerships in an "intensive" investigation. So far no arrests have been made.
The sports car was stolen in April 1995 while Berger was at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy.
The Organized Vehicle Crime Unit and the National Crime Agency revealed the car was in Japan until it was returned to Britain in late 2023. Ferrari alerted the authorities in January after carrying out checks on the model, which was bought in the US.
"The stolen Ferrari - worth close to £350.000 - was missing for more than 28 years before we managed to find it in just four days," police said.
