The small village of Bosilovo in Strumica is in the center of attention in Macedonia these days. This village has been shrouded in grief, sorrow and uncertainty for ten days, due to the disappearance of the young Maria, for whom the police cannot find a trace. She left her home in the early hours of January 18 and never returned. She was wearing dark tracksuits, sneakers or slippers, and was not carrying a purse, cell phone, or other documents. She is about 160 cm tall, of medium build, with long auburn hair.

The team of "Free Press" visited Bosilovo and the family home of Marija Brzakova, where every day, hoping to see her again on the doorstep, live her husband and her 4-year-old daughter, as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law.

The Brzakovs live in Switzerland. The young couple returned to the hometown of the husband's parents in September, and due to the family tragedy, both the father-in-law and the mother-in-law arrived from Switzerland.

Neighbors say they do not know Marija and her husband, as they rarely came to Bosilovo. They met in Switzerland, and were probably born there, say the villagers. Marija is originally from the neighboring village of Turnovo, where her parents have a house. They also recently came from Switzerland due to the disappearance of their daughter.

The team of "Free Press" went to the home of Marija Brzakova, and we could feel the tragic and shocking atmosphere right on the doorstep. We were greeted by Maria's father-in-law, to whom we introduced ourselves as journalists and asked him if we could talk to his son. Maria's husband was talking to police in the yard at the time.

"Wait for me to ask my son," his father replied with tears in his eyes.

He returned shortly afterwards and told us that his son did not want to give a statement to the media, at least not at this time.

We decided to respect their pain and left.

We went through the village to try to find out if any of the villagers saw or heard anything. We overheard bazaar gossip. The stories are woven day by day, but all the villagers want only one thing, the case of Maria to have a happy ending.

The river Strumica is located a few hundred meters from Marija's house. It is one of the first places that the police searched, and last weekend about 100 hunters and residents of Bosilovo, Turnovo and the surrounding areas searched the canals, the river Turija, the dams Drvos and Ilovica, Monospitovsko blato and the surrounding fields. Unfortunately, they found no trace of Mary.

We walked along the rivers Strumica and Turija. We noticed that these are rivers with low water levels that have not been cleared for a long time, so they are overgrown with tall grass and bushes. That, according to locals, was a major problem for police officers during the search.

We headed to Turnovo, the village where Marija's parents have a house. We found their home. We rang the doorbell where her mother appeared. Visibly disturbed and with tears in her eyes, she kindly asked us to leave.

"Neither I nor my husband are able to give statements to the media," she told us and sent us off hoping that Maria would be found alive.

The police have no clues

The police, if they informed us from the SIA Strumica, have not found Brzakova yet.

- Brzakova has not been found, the case is being worked on, and in the interest of the investigation we must not reveal more details - said Hrizantema Rendevska from SIA Strumica.

As it is already known, Maria's disappearance was reported to the police by her husband B.B. (29) on Monday, ie three days and two nights after the woman left home.

This provoked violent reactions on social networks that this information is not correct, as we heard from Maria's mother, who told us that they found out on Saturday or the day after the disappearance, but she does not know why the case was reported on Monday, because they were on their way. for Macedonia.

The investigation into the disappearance of Marija Brzakova from Bosilovo from the day before yesterday is led by the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Strumica.

According to the information from there, a pre-investigation procedure has been opened, and more details in the interest of the investigation are not announced.
