As part of the prestigious "May Opera Evenings" festival, on May 23, starting at 20 p.m., the opera "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini will be performed on the stage of the National Opera and Ballet.

It is a musical drama in the true sense of the word, a monumental, brilliantly orchestrated, realistic opera in three acts. Love, passion, jealousy and political intrigue are the driving dramatic elements of this "operatic thriller".

Paolo Bressan from Italy conducts the performance of this dramatic tragedy by Puccini, directed by Ognyan Draganov (Bulgaria), the scenography is by Zoran Nikolovski, and the costume design is by Maria Pupuchevska, the choirmasters are Djurđica Dašić and Jasmina Gjorgeska, and the concertmaster is Jane Bakevski.

Our opera premiere, Vesna Gjinovska Ilkova, will perform in the title role, a leading dramatic operatic soprano with perfect vocal dynamism and flawless intonation. She has performed countless opera and concert performances, and is the recipient of the highest state awards and recognitions.

In the role of the painter Cavaradossi, the tenor Nikola Kitanovski will perform, one of the most established opera artists from the area of ​​the former Yugoslavia, who has been pursuing an international professional artistic career with great success for thirty-five years.

The guest from Romania, Lucian Petrean, will play the role of the "evil Scarpia", and our bassist, Vladimir Sazdovski, a frequent guest on world opera stages, will play the role of Angelotti.

Dragan Ampov, Jane Dunimaglovski, Tihomir Jakimovski, Dimitar Kozhuharov, Desanka Gligorijevic, Miroslav Antovski will perform in the other roles together with the choir and orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet.
