Reljic, great hope of the Macedonian taekwondo: To success with training, perseverance, desire, respect for the coach

I have the greatest support on the road to success from the coach Aleksandar Eftimov, a man who motivated me a lot, believed in me, we started going to international competitions. The conditions in the Taekwondo club "Tigers" - Skopje are excellent - says the Macedonian taekwondo player.

Macedonia celebrates Dejan Georgievski (22), the taekwondo fighter who achieved great success at the Tokyo Olympics by winning the silver medal in the over 80 kg category. The sports hero and his coaches announce that they will continue to train with willpower to continue the trend of top results and with hope for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Step by step, we should not stop at the plan and strategy, we should continue to invest, to take care of this sport in our country (as well as for everyone else), so that the competitors in men and women can competition to feel that they have the necessary ideal conditions starting from training, of course performances on the domestic stage, as well as travel, participation in international tournaments, major competitions ..

We as a web medium continue to follow the Macedonian sports talents that promise, who fight with all their potential and heart for our country, and among them is Mila Reljic (18) from Taekwondo Club "Tigers" Skopje. She has a significant number of medals won, trophies in the past 3-4 years, and as one of her biggest results separates the bronze medal from the Presidential Cup last year in Sweden where in the fight for the final she was narrowly defeated by the then current world runner-up.

Read more about her beginnings, trainings, her successes so far, about Macedonian taekwondo ..

How did your love for taekwondo start, what inspired you to be a part of this sport?

- There was a taekwondo club in our neighborhood and my mother enrolled me, my brother and my sister just enough to spend energy and play sports. Nobody thought then that I would become a professional athlete. I trained there for 7 years.

Who is your coach and club, tell us something more about the trainings themselves, how satisfied are you with the conditions?

- 5 years ago I switched to Taekwondo Club Tigers Skopje, My personal trainer is Aleksandar Eftimov (4th day), a man who motivated me a lot, he believed in me, we started going to international competitions, I did not have such competitions 7 years ago. He was always here when I needed him the most, his support is huge, practically Alexander is most responsible for my career and my successes. The conditions in the club are excellent, we have a lot of equipment, gym with tatami, fitness equipment, all kinds of exercise equipment and most importantly a great atmosphere for training.

After February 2020 after winning a bronze medal at the European Presidential Cup in Helsingborg Sweden we started doing a lot more individual training, a program prepared just for me and during the corona crisis despite the fact that the halls were closed we practiced twice a day outside on concrete for 7 months , nothing could reduce our desire for success, even though we paid dearly for that tax with blisters on my feet that I can not cure today.
I train 2x a day, with one day a week break. I have also prepared a special diet and I strictly adhere to it.

What are your biggest successes on the domestic and international scene, as an example you participated in the international tournament "Tirana Open" in Albania where you were named the best fighter by the seniors.

- Of course mine The biggest success is the bronze medal from the already mentioned Presidential Cup in Sweden, where in the fight for the final I had a narrow defeat from the then current world runner-up.

A month ago in Tirana I had three fights to reach the gold medal, all three victories I singled out with a technical knockout (dominant difference over 20 points) and there I won the first trophy for the best fighter in the women's senior competition. But, I am aiming for the European G1 tournaments, while I was a junior I would single out the gold medal from the Bosnian G1 Open, the silver medal from the Sofia G1 Open, the bronze medal from the Seagull G1 Open. 5th place at the European Club Championship in Thessaloniki, 6th place at the Multi-European Games in Sofia and normally the many gold medals at the tournaments organized in the Balkans.

Do you believe that the Macedonian taekwondo is valued enough in our country, we see that taekwondo knows how to bring top results, and the last example was the silver Olympic medal of Dejan Georgievski in Tokyo ..

- Unfortunately, I think that taekwondo is not valued enough in our country, many people have not even heard of this martial art which is very, very popular abroad, but with the successes of the past years and especially with Dejan's silver Olympic medal we all expect taekwondo to take its rightful place.

How are your preparations currently and what are the goals you want to achieve in the next period?

- This summer, while I am freer from school obligations, we try to make the most of it with coach Aleksandar. In July we were preparing in Greece, so yesterday we returned from Ohrid and for August we have already paid for two training camps in Serbia and Greece and immediately after the end of August to travel to Estonia for the European Championship under 21 for which we have already provided the norm with a bronze medal from last year's European Presidential Cup. I hope we will be able to bring a medal from this extremely strong competition.

What is your biggest support on the road to success?

- The biggest support for my path to success is definitely my coach Aleksandar Eftimov, who firmly believed in me, who motivated me after the defeats, a coach who knows how to say very motivating sentences to me and often reads such books on the road to success, sometimes I wonder how and he has so much power when, in addition to his work as a doctor of science at the Medical Faculty, he finds time every day for 2,5 hours for training. Normally, my parents are here, my grandmother, my grandfather and especially my aunt who as a big family are always by my side in victories and defeats.

What does a taekwondo competitor, an athlete in general, need to have in order to believe in a good result?

- Desire, perseverance, patience, trust, respect for the coach, and very, very hard training, giving up many things that our generation does, simply to put training in the first place.
