Around 9.500 Britons with liquid assets worth at least a million dollars could leave the country due to political turmoil, more than doubling by 2023, Hanley & Partners migration adviser Hannah White said today.

A record number of millionaires could leave Britain this year because of political turmoil and the possibility of tax increases under a possible future Labor government, CNN reported.

The outcome of Britain's snap parliamentary elections, which will be held on July 4, could thus threaten the country's status as one of the most popular destinations for the wealthy.

White says in his report that there are many factors that make Britain less attractive to the wealthy.

"The shock of Brexit is still felt, and London is no longer considered the financial center of the world," she emphasized.

CNN notes that 16.500 millionaires left the UK between 2017 and 2023.
