Real triumphed in the UEFA Super Cup for the fifth time, Benzema became the second scorer in the history of the "kings"
The players of the European champion Real Madrid triumphed in the UEFA Super Cup after defeating the winner of the Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt, 2:0 in Helsinki.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti took to the pitch at the National Stadium in Helsinki with the identical team that beat Liverpool in the Champions League final, while Eintracht played without one of their best players, Filip Kostic, who left for Turin to sign a contract with Juventus.
The goals of Real Madrid were scored by David Alaba in the 37th minute and Karim Benzema in the 65th minute.
With the goal in the second half, Benzema made history for the "royal club", reaching 324 goals in the Real Madrid shirt, thus overtaking the legendary Raúl in second place on the list of the best scorers in history. In the first place is Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored as many as 126 goals from Benzema in the jersey of Real Madrid.
The triumph in Helsinki also put coach Carlo Ancelotti in the record book. The Italian triumphed for the fourth time in the UEFA Super Cup and left Pep Guardiola at three triumphs.
