The director of the Strumica school where a teacher is suspected of sexually assaulting a child has been dismissed

The Mayor of Strumica, Kostadin Kostadinov, dismissed the director of the school from Strumica in which a teacher is suspected of sexually assaulting a child, and the Basic Court in Strumica at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office Strumica ordered detention of the teacher for 30 days.

Kostadinov posted the decision on Facebook, where he wrote that he was disgusted by the allegations about the teacher in a Strumica school who misbehaved with a minor student in the same school, for which the SIA Strumica filed criminal charges on suspicion of sexual assault on a child.

- Any crime against a child must be punished, but also people in managerial positions should be held accountable for the crime of employees. Without hesitation, and with a strong desire for order, discipline and responsibility while I am mayor, today I signed the decision to dismiss the principal of the school. Let this be a warning to all. The most severe punishments for the perpetrators of crimes and dismissal of their leaders, wrote Mayor Kostadinov.

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Strumica announced today that they have issued an order to conduct an investigation against a 40-year-old man suspected of sexual assault - a child under 14 years of age under Article 188 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, for which imprisonment of at least 12 years.

- The suspect, a teacher in a primary school in Strumica, in the period from October 2020 to May 2022, through the social network sent messages with explicit sexual content to a student who was not 14 years old. Taking the opportunity when they were left alone in the sports hall of the school, he twice committed other sexual acts, touching and kissing the injured party, reads the statement of the Public Prosecutor's Office Strumica. The competent public prosecutor submitted to the judge of the preliminary procedure from the Basic Court in Strumica a proposal for determining a measure of detention, because there is a danger that he will flee, influence witnesses or repeat the crime.

The judge accepted the motion and remanded the suspect in custody for 30 days.
