Interview with Kamelija Janevska from "Book Reading Club": Reading is a place where you feel at home
Reading books liberates and opens new horizons for us. It is with such an intention that it exists "Book club". It is a place where impressions and literary discussions will be shared, a space that will bring new energy to young people and will be a new hope for their love for the written word.
Today we are talking about this initiative with Kamelija Janevska, part of the club and an avid reader of books.
What is the main idea of such a club, Camellia?
- With today's dynamics of life, we often neglect the books somewhere on the shelves, hoping that one day we will have more time to read them. Through active involvement in the readers' club, those books have been read for a long time, and my home library is constantly being enriched with new books.
For those who love books, the feeling of excitement and fullness when reading a new title is well known, curiously turning the pages to know the end. Books are a world of stories that arouse a feeling of joy, sadness, anger, empathy, so we share all those emotions in the readers' club and find a place of peace where every lover of the written word is welcome and I can say with certainty that it is a place where you feel at home.
Books are a rare opportunity to share worlds. What is your favorite literary world?
- Something I learned with the "Readers' Club" is to get out of my own comfort zone and give a chance to forms of writing that I have not explored before. So lately, in addition to the books we read in the club, I have started reading psychological thrillers, which have really managed to reach the first place on my list of prose genres.
For a long time, my favorite book is "Therapy" by Sebastian Fitzek, which is exactly a psychological thriller and managed to keep me in suspense until the very end.
Sharing literary experiences in modern instant life is a rarity - what does reading mean to you?
- Reading for me is a kind of mental meditation where you are able to rest your mind while it is active. While many people prefer to watch a movie and be equally satisfied, I would use the classic phrase that says "a book was better than a movie" because in my case it almost always is. Reading a book allows me to fully empathize with the character and the story around it and to use my own creativity, creating the world that the book offers.
What is the message to the readers and book lovers of your club?
- Books are one of the few things that allow us to buy happiness with money. All those who love books, I think should be part of such a club of readers, where in addition to learning a great book, they will have the opportunity to meet kindred souls who share their passion.
