The numbers in the daily statistics for covid-19 will start to grow rapidly in the coming weeks as a result of the arrival of Omicron-BA 4 and 5 and that is the bad news. Yesterday Ministry of Health of Macedonia informs that in the last 24 hours there are 168 new cases out of 1.101 tested, what is a high rate of over 15 per cent of those tested. From them 28 are reinfections, health officials said.

The latest figures, from June 10 onwards, show a tendency of increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus, which indicates that we are facing a new wave of covid-19.

The situation is the same in the countries of the region. In Albania were confirmed two days ago 550 new cases with covid-19 which was twice as high as in previous days and is the highest figure in the last three months. The Ministry of Health there appeals to the citizens to be vaccinated, to be more careful, especially in the period that follows when the contacts increase due to the movement in the summer season.

In Srbiјa were registered yesterday 468 infected with coronavirus, and one person died as a result of the infection. The current epidemiological situation requires to adopt at least a minimum of measures, as mandatory wearing of masks indoors, public transport and especially in health facilities, which is now only partially respected.

A decision was made in Brussels for the EU to continue using the Covid-19 certificate.

The EU has extended the use of the Covid-19 certificate until June 2023
