Radical Islamist suspected of shooting in Oslo?
The terror suspect, who was arrested this morning for killing two people and injuring 21 at a gay bar in Oslo, has been identified as a 42-year-old former Iranian-born plumber who, according to Western media reports, may be a radical Islamist.
The arrested Zannier Matapur was born in Iranian Kurdistan before coming to Bergen in Norway as a refugee at the age of 12, reports The Daily Mail.
He was charged early this morning with two murders, attempted murder and terrorism following a homophobic terrorist attack on a pub in the city center.
The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) has been investigating Matapur, who had a number of mental illnesses, for years, but has decided that it "does not pose an immediate threat", Norwegian national television VG reported.
The suspect has been known to the security services since 2015, according to "PST".
The Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin has so far been punished only for minor crimes.
