Putin: The West trapped itself, wanting to trap Russia
The West fell into a trap because it could not foresee the tendencies that would contribute to the weakening of its global dominance, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian leader attended the celebration of the centenary of the Russian secret intelligence service at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and on that occasion emphasized that the service's priority is strategic forecasting of the development of international processes, Sputnik reported.
He assessed that there are many like-minded people in the world who want to go their own way, they are just afraid to raise their heads and speak loudly about it.
"The West is trying to ignore the reality that does not suit it, as well as the formation of a multipolar world order. Undoubtedly, he cannot completely ignore these objective tendencies. But in practice, his policy is guided by one goal – to preserve his own dominance by all means," said Putin.
He added that dogmatism, the burden of the past and the unwillingness to face the truth inevitably increase the risk of further reckless impulsive actions by the West.
Putin assessed that today the West cynically uses millions of Ukrainians as expendable material in its geopolitical games and attempts to contain Russia, and in the "American" world the rights of all others are simply trampled upon.
He added that the attempts to contain Russia are nothing more than a desire not to allow Russia to develop at the necessary pace and on the basis of the traditional values that are necessary for it.
"What limitation is that?" It is simply a fight against Russia," Putin said.
