Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a strategic cooperation agreement with North Korea, which includes provisions related to mutual defense, making the document a law.

In June, Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced an agreement that commits Moscow and Pyongyang to provide mutual aid if their countries fall victim to aggression.

The Russian parliament has ratified the agreement, according to Reuters.
