School shooting in Atlanta: Teen killed, student seriously injured

A teenage girl was killed and another teenager was wounded in a shooting outside an Atlanta high school this morning. So far, no one has been arrested, but the police said that several high school students participated in the incident.
Officers received a report of a shooting around 02:27 a.m. Two victims, a 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were found at the scene and transported to local hospitals. The girl was dead on the spot, and the young man is in a stable condition, the police said.
The victims have not been identified. It is unclear if the teenagers attended the high school before the shooting. At a news conference this afternoon, Mayor Andre Dickens said the deceased victim was "full of life".

"My heart goes out to both families," he said. "This young lady was full of life and was actually expected to work for the city of Atlanta starting Tuesday in our summer youth employment program."
"I'm asking parents across the county, I'm asking young people across the county to think about their safety, make sure their parents know where they are. "And parents, do you know where your children are," said Dickens. "We want you to be safe and make informed, quality decisions about where you're going."
A reward is being offered for information on the perpetrators
Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Lisa Herring called the shooting, which happened just days into the end of the school year, "tragic." "The crisis team will be on campus next Tuesday to assist those who may need additional support," Herring said. "We express our condolences to the families who were affected.
