The ruble continued to rise against the dollar on the Moscow Stock Exchange, with the US currency falling below 60 rubles for the first time since April 2018.

The ruble has strengthened more than 24 percent this year despite the economic crisis, becoming the world's most successful currency performance currency, backed by capital controls introduced by Russia in late February to protect its financial sector after, as Moscow calls it the military operation in Ukraine.

Against the euro, the ruble strengthened by almost 4,0 percent to 61,90 rubles.
