The art book "Anything outside of art is a waste of time" by artist Dorotej Neshovski was promoted on Wednesday (January 26th) at KSP "Centar - Jadro". The promotion was followed by an art installation.

The drawings presented at the exhibition, as well as in the book published by the same center, address the issues of questions and thoughts with which the artist lives in society, and which is set on the principles with given existences of thought and state. Most of the drawings presented in the book, Neshovski created while working at a Lottery booth in a Skopje shopping mall.

As he himself explains, the drawings are created on papers that are placed on a daily basis by corporations and their marketing, available for daily thoughts and quick sketches with the expression of the spirit of the artist's possibilities. The book, he says, contains "experimental visual drawings and ephemeral thoughts created on corporate papers."

- The works were created during a period of work in a mall and the events in it. If we analyze the sentences, they are part of the "state" of the person and forms of media through which a visual language is built that reveals the contradictions of modern society - Neskovski explains for "Cultural Press".

Neshovski was born in 1989 in Skopje, where he lives and works today. He graduated in 2012 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje at the Department of Sculpture, with directional scenography. His book "Art is not what you want", published by "Private print" from Skopje, was published in 2017. Since 2015, he has been actively organizing and conceptualizing children's workshops at the Children's Creative Center at MKC.

As an interdisciplinary artist, he deals with the concepts of creative spontaneity, artistic articulation, social inclusion, pedagogy and abstraction of the gallery-audience-artist relationship whose interests include participatory activities, mapping methodologies and resonance, research and study. Since 2012 he is one of the founders and a member of the art group "SEE", with which he has realized several projects.

"Art is a lottery, nobody gets anything!"

Through the plastic exaltations of the image space, Neshovski, as he says, manages to "explore the practice of the Mind, meaning the practical mind in the spheres of existence, as a place for the transformation of the image of the world."

He also emphasizes that the title "Everything outside of art is a waste of time!" Is not simple at all. The message, according to him, is that every artist is forced to make compromises in the moments when he has to work on art and research it, and at the same time deals with an existential problem.

- This is a presented component for every artist at the moment when he has to work above the art and in researching it, and he deals with an existential problem and is forced to create compromises. With that, the artist wants to examine the unresolved problems we face. But our society does not even try to understand each other! - Neshovski told us.
