The promotion of the book "Language is a strange beast" by Marina Kostova will take place in "Bukva"

The book "Language is a strange beast" by Marina Kostova will be launched on September 26, at 20:XNUMX p.m., at the "Bukva" cafe-bookstore in Skopje. The promotion will be in the form of a conversation between the culturologist Dr. Darin Angelovski and the author.

"Language is a strange beast" is a hybrid collection of short personal histories, reviews and essays, published by "Ili-Ili". It is conceived as a fluid text which, although it moves from one genre to another, has as its common denominator writing as a tool for enjoying the word, that is, language. The personal histories have the format of short prose, which includes a nostalgic experience of urban life in Skopje over a span of almost 50 years.

Film reviews analyze domestic and foreign works spanning 20 years, but like media reviews and essays, they essentially explore the spirit of the present, social changes and their reflection.

– When I put all the words in a pile, I realized that my love for writing and for the word is what connects these different texts: prose lines, memories, essays, reviews, interviews, theoretical reflections, aphorisms, poetry. The measure of the text is what unites the different parts in the collection - says Kostova.

The cover design is by the German artist Angel Panevski, and the preface is by the film director Milcho Manchevski.
