Professor Dr. Kimet Fetahu guest on a show on the Albanian national television ABC News spoke about his candidacy for President of the Republic of Albania, as a proposal of the only party of Macedonians in Albania, the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration (IAEA).

Fetahu also spoke about his Macedonian origins in the village of Trebishte, Golo Brdo district and the position of Macedonians in Albania, his professional career as a university professor and social worker, and the challenges facing Albanian society.

- I have been a professor for 40 years and I have prepared an entire army of academic citizens in Albania from all ethnic communities. I continue to be a professor at the Faculty of Geology and Mining, to prepare new generations. That is why I think that there is no problem for me, as a Macedonian, to be president. "Isn't the Albanian Deputy Prime Minister in Macedonia," said Professor Dr. Fetahu.

He added that he considers the invitation of the party, in which he was secretary, to be a candidate for president of the country, an honor and high appreciation, for which he is grateful.

According to him, the presidency should be returned to academics.

- Previously, there were presidents of university professors, such as Bamir Topi and Redzep Mejdani. "I think the presidency should be returned to academics, because I think social peace should be restored, such as urban development accompanied by adequate infrastructure," Fetahu said.

MAEI says that prof. Dr. Kimet Fetahu is a respected person in Albania with professional and personal integrity, without political burden and as an apolitical candidate is the most appropriate person to be the new head of state.
