Detained fraudster from Bulgaria who lied to elderly people about accidents in order to extort money from them

Today (October 02.10.2022, 9) at 00:34 a.m. at the Deve Bair border crossing, police officers detained N.P.S. (XNUMX) from Pleven, Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
After previously taken operational tactical measures by SVR Skopje and received operational data from the Bulgarian police services, it was established that N.P.S. is a perpetrator of several crimes of "fraud" according to Art. 247 of the Criminal Code.

Namely, in the period from 18.09 to 01.10. eight frauds were reported in the area of ​​SVR Skopje, and he managed to take about 40.000 euros and gold worth about 10.000 euros from the injured - older persons.

The fraudster managed to mislead the victims by calling them by phone and telling them that a member of their immediate family allegedly caused a traffic accident in which a child died, and if he wanted to save him from going to prison, he demanded a large amount of money from the victims. .

During the search at N.P.S. 10.400 euros, phone cards, telephone and other items related to the crimes were found. After documenting the cases, a criminal report will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office.
We appeal to the citizens to be careful and not to fall for such scams, and if they receive such calls, to report the case immediately to the nearest police station or to the toll-free number 192.
