Pristina urges Tirana to inform world that "Balkans are under threat from Serbia"

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, asked the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, for his country to be committed to promoting Kosovo in the international organizations in which that country is not yet a member, MIA reports from Pristina.

The statement after today's meeting of the Presidents of Kosovo and Albania in Pristina, where Meta was staying today, said that Osmani asked him to commit to conveying the message in the region and the world that "the Balkans are under threat from Serbia."

She also stressed that her country is against the "Open Balkans" initiative, due to, in her opinion, the unequal treatment of Kosovo by the international community.

- President Osmani said that, together with Albania, the two countries should strive to convey the message in the region and in the world that the Balkans are under threat from the aggressive and hegemonic policy of Serbia. She reiterated that Kosovo opposes ideas in which the country is not treated on an equal footing with others, including the Open Balkans initiative, launched by Albania along with Serbia and northern Macedonia. said in a statement from Osmani's cabinet.

She stressed that "she can not support any initiative that could be a rival or hinder the process of EU integration and the Euro-Atlantic orientation of the region, where Serbia seeks to play a leading role."

The information service of the Government of Kosovo stated that Prime Minister Kurti at the meeting with the Albanian President Meta "reiterated that there can be no such initiatives (like 'Open Balkans') when Serbia is closed to Kosovo, does not recognize his diplomas, personal documents, certificates and customs stamps ”.

- Prime Minister Kurti asked Albania to defend Kosovo from attacks by Serbia on international organizations and institutions, especially where Kosovo is not yet a member, said in a government statement.

At a meeting with Albanian President Ilir Meta, Kosovo state leaders said that "the only recognition at the center of dialogue with Serbia should be the recognition of Kosovo's independence."
