The "Bechtel and Enka" case transferred to the Ministry of the Interior
The "Bechtel and Enka" case, which was opened by the Prosecutor's Office after a tip-off, based on media articles, has been transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs since the summer.
As the Prosecutor's Office informs, many questions were raised about the case and it was not easy to provide evidence to find the answers.
- The subject of implementing the construction of highways from corridors 8 and 10d has been opened after a vote was reached based on articles in the media. The case was initiated by the Prosecutor's Office, but no justice police was working on it, and for that reason, it was handled by only one investigator from the Investigative Center of the Prosecutor's Office in organized crime, because in the entire Investigative Center, five to six investigators deal with such type of cases. During that entire period, checks were carried out on both procedures - public procurements that were carried out for the selection of a legal entity that will carry out the supervision. One was canceled due to failure to provide a bank guarantee, and the second procedure was successful. There were two competitors, two consortia. One ended at the beginning of the procedure due to non-fulfillment of conditions, and the second, as the only final bidder, concluded the contract for public procurement. Seen this way, everything is completed according to law. But in order to discover the possible existence of a criminal act and how exactly that consortium got it, was it normal to get it at that price..., are very big questions that we cannot always find the answers to even in our country because the consortium is international, nor is it easy to provide evidence to arrive at the answers to those questions. Many questions were opened, it was necessary to provide and carry out checks on wider parties, the case has been transferred since the summer, with given orders, to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was said today at a media briefing at the Prosecutor's Office.
