Members of the Bundestag supported Croatia's entry into the Eurozone
Last night, the German Bundestag supported the introduction of the euro in Croatia, with the assessment of the deputies that Croatia fulfilled all the necessary criteria for entering the Eurozone.
German legislators agree that further development and completion of the economic and monetary union is in Germany's interest.
The decision was opposed only by the deputies of the extreme right-wing party "Alternative for Germany", whose deputy Norbert Kleinwachter called Croatia the "New Greece".
At the summer summit held on June 24, EU leaders supported the recommendation for Croatia's entry into the Eurozone, which is the penultimate step in the decision-making process.
The last step is the adoption of the three legislative proposals for the entry of Croatia scheduled to take place at the meeting of the Council for Economy and Finance on July 12, so that from January 1 next year the euro will be the official currency in Croatia.
The last expansion of the Eurozone took place in 2015 when the euro became the official currency in Lithuania.
