For now, there are no announcements for prolongation of October 1 as the start date of the week as a non-working day. The Ministry of Economy informs "Free Press" that they expect the Parliament to adopt the necessary changes, because there are 15 days left until the deadline.

- We expect the amendments to the Law on Trade to be adopted soon in the Parliament, given that there are 15 days left until the deadline, ie the implementation to start on October 1, 2021 - was the answer that "Free Press" received the question that will happened if the Parliament did not adopt the amendments to the Law on Labor Relations and Trade in time.

The MPs will discuss the proposed amendments to the Law on Labor Relations, which officially introduces the non-working week, in the main Parliamentary Committee on Labor and Social Policy on Monday, September 20th. The coordinator of the SDSM parliamentary group, Jovan Mitreski, hopes that there will be no obstructions and that rules of procedure will be created for the law to enter into force on time, as provided.

As the laws are in the second reading, after the committee discussions, they will still be adopted at the plenary session. Their first reading ended in July, and SSM publicly asked the Parliament to schedule a session as soon as possible, at which the proposed changes will be considered, declaring Sunday a non-working day.

With the exceptions in trade and other industries, the analysis of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy showed that for more than 95 percent of the employees in the country, Sunday will be a day off.
