A well-known Serbian journalist was arrested on suspicion of carrying a hanging doll with Vucic's image to the protest

The long-time journalist and writer Boško Savkovic was arrested around noon today on suspicion of carrying a banner with a hanging doll with the image of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, at the protest in Belgrade last night. He was detained around noon in his in connection with the doll that appeared on their banner at the "Serbia Against Violence" protest.

His daughter Emilia told Serbian media that four men appeared at their door without an arrest warrant and did not show identification.

"We gathered 15 people at the monument (on Nikola Pasic Square). The banner was there all the time and some kind of doll appeared in the photos. We look forward to seeing what happens. It is about a doll that the Prime Minister of Serbia uploads to her Twitter profile. The banner is still with us, we see it. The inspectors who came also saw him. But we have nothing to do with the doll," she told the daily newspaper "Danas".

Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, was the first to react to the hanging doll with the face of the Serbian president, who shared a photo of the doll hanging next to a banner on her Twitter profile. In her post, which was then shared by a large number of members of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), she publicly asked how to explain the content of the photo to her children.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also commented on the "hanged" doll with his face today, stating that part of his job is to suffer such "gassy things".

Citizens of the "Serbia against violence" protest left messages for Vucic and announced a new gathering for next week.
