Tetovo Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Court of Appeals the decision of the Tetovo court by which the five participants in the violent protest in Mala Recica were sentenced to one year probation. The protest took place on September 17, 2021, and five police officers were injured in it.

One of the reasons for the request to reconsider the case is that there are injured officials, and they want the protest organizers to be punished according to the law, "Free Press" has learned.

"Although the defendants pleaded guilty, such a verdict of the first instance court will not have enough educational impact that will prevent the defendant from committing such or similar acts in the future," the Gostivar Court of Appeals said.

The lawyer of Blerim Ameti known as the brother of "El Cheka", the organizer of the protest who was sentenced to one year probation, told "Free Press" that the Court of Appeal in Gostivar has scheduled a public hearing to consider the appeal of the prosecution. The possibilities, according to him, are the first instance decision to remain in force or to change in favor of the request of the prosecution.

- If there are external influences, I think the decision will be re-qualified. Blerim did not admit any guilt, Blerim is simply the organizer of the protest and it has nothing to do with organizing the crowd and the incident, the lawyer emphasizes Besnik Asani.

The hearing for the accused Blerim Ahmeti will be held on March 1. He is accused of being the leader of the mob. The Basic Court in Tetovo sentenced him to probation together with four other detainees. On November 17, a protest was held in Tetovo to shed light on the investigation into the tragedy of the modular hospital. The crowd was stopped by a police cordon near the DUI party headquarters, and there were clashes between protesters and police.
