Post initiates regional co-operation: Greater EU support for modernization and better quality services is expected

The international postal traffic between Northern Macedonia and Slovenia has increased during the pandemic and therefore closer cooperation between the national post offices in the two countries is necessary, stated at the joint meeting Jani Makraduli, General Manager of the Post Office and the Ambassador of Slovenia, Milan Predan.

- There is great potential and need for greater investment in quality international postal services, because the growth in the number of shipments and letters clearly shows how great the need of the citizens and the business community in both countries. The support of the National Post Office of Slovenia will be especially important in the transfer of experiences, for faster modernization of the technological and the process of digitalization of the Post Office - said Makraduli.

Within the Strategy for improvement of the services and modernization of the work of the Post Office, other international meetings were realized for strengthening the regional and EU cooperation. Among other things, at the meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Nives Tiganj, Makraduli, pointed out that so far no formal joint activities have been realized between the two national post offices and that is why greater mutual cooperation is needed. The Post of Northern Macedonia for "Free Press" informs that letters of interest for cooperation have already been prepared, which will be sent to the national post offices of Croatia and Slovenia.

At the meeting with the Head of the Department for Economic Affairs, Rule of Law and Public Administration at the EC Delegation, Freck Janmat, the strategic priorities of the Post for 2021 were presented, including the financial stabilization of the company, digitalization and introduction of e-commerce. , implementation of a strong eco-component in the work of the Post of Northern Macedonia. Makraduli pointed out that he expects support from the partners in the EU Delegation for the reconstruction of the burned counter-hall, which is the architectural pride of the Post Office, but also of the entire country.

- We also discussed the possibilities for involvement in other projects and the TAIEX program in support of postal services - pointed out Makraduli.
