Former porn actor Ron Jeremy, who was accused of multiple rapes, will be released from prison at a private residence in Los Angeles, reports "Business Insider".

The judge denied the prosecution's request to change the plan over the protests of Jeremy's alleged victims. The XNUMX-year-old is in custody on sex crime charges, but a judge in Los Angeles has ruled that he is incompetent to stand trial because he has severe dementia.

Ron had been waiting to be placed in a state facility, but a judge last week granted his lawyer's request that he be moved to a private home because of his deteriorating health.

However, prosecutors asked the judge to reconsider. Many of the women who accused Jeremy of rape or sexual assault also opposed the move. Several spoke at the hearing Thursday afternoon in a Hollywood courtroom.

One of the victims said Jeremy should suffer like she did.

"He shut me down emotionally for the rest of my life." He belongs in prison and should never be released," she said.

Another said Jeremy's release “isn't justice for me. I feel like this is special treatment for a celebrity."

However, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Harrison refused to reverse his decision.

He ordered an investigation to determine whether Jeremy qualifies for a guardianship that could put him in a state hospital, but their lawyer, noted women's rights lawyer Gloria Allred, said the process could take years and the investigation could not considered Jeremy's current charges in determining whether he poses a risk to public safety.

In the meantime, Jeremy will be released, and Allred said he doesn't know exactly where.

"We won't know where that private residence is and if he's going to be locked up in the private residence," Allred said.

Ronald Jeremy Hyatt was originally charged with four counts of indictment, but more women came forward after his arrest, and the case rose to 34 counts of rape, forced oral intercourse and sexual assault involving 23 women.
