The daughter of a former vice president, the most vocal critic of Trump from the Republican Party is aiming to run for president of the United States

Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney, known for her public criticism of former US President Donald Trump, has been on the front pages of many of the world's media in recent days. Yesterday, she convincingly lost the elections for the House of Representatives in the US state of Wyoming, which means that she will be without her seat in the US Congress.

But despite the defeat, in an interview for "NBC- SiShe explained her aspirations to run for President of the United States in the next election in 2024. As a member of the Republican Party, if she really decides to run, Cheney could fight exactly with Donald Trump, who has not yet officially announced whether he will run in the next election, although people close to him claim so, writes "The Guardian". There are currently several possible candidates from the Republican Party who could be in the running for America's next president.

Cheney, 56, has been a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives since 2017. She chaired the House Republican Conference, the third-highest position in House Republican leadership, from 2019 to 2021.

The three-term congresswoman was once a Republican rising star.

But in the American public, Cheney may have remained best known for her criticism during the administration of former President Donald Trump.

She supported a second impeachment of Donald Trump over his role in the break-in on Capitol Hill last year, which angered many of Trump's supporters. In fact, Cheney was one of ten members of the Republican Party who joined the investigations against Trump.

Now, Trump's supporters have gotten their "revenge," says "CNN".

Conceding defeat, Cheney signaled that this was the beginning of a new chapter in her political career. "Our work is far from done," she told a group of her supporters, including her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, writes "the bbc.

A few days ago she said she would "do whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the White House."

Cheney says she could have easily won the election if she had bought into Trump's false claims that he — and not President Joe Biden — had won the 2020 election, but she just "couldn't do it."
