Former US President Bill Clinton admitted to hospital
Former US President Bill Clinton was admitted to a hospital in California on Tuesday on suspicion of a blood infection, CNN reported last night.
CNN reported that Clinton, 75, was placed in the Intensive Care Unit on suspicion of a blood infection.
His condition is not related to his previous heart problems or Covid-19, added CNN.
Officials at the University of California Medical Center are hoping the former US president will be released from hospital soon after being hospitalized for blood poisoning.
"White blood cell counts are declining, responding well to antibiotics… We hope to be able to release him for home treatment soon," Clinton spokeswoman Angel Urenia said on Twitter.
Doctors noted that they were in constant contact with Clinton's team of doctors in New York, especially with his cardiologist, because the politician had previously undergone heart surgery.
CNN has learned that Clinton's problem arose after she contracted a urinary tract infection, which then entered the circulatory system.
