The actress, singer and model Hayden Panettiere, the ex-fiancée of the Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, spoke for the first time about his addiction.

The 32-year-old actress has struggled with addiction and postpartum depression for years, and revealed what her road to recovery looked like. She revealed she was just 15 when someone from the team started offering her what she called "lucky pills".

"They had to cheer me on during interviews and red carpet appearances. I had no idea that this was what would open the door to my doom. "Every time I thought I'd hit rock bottom, the door opened to new pitfalls," she told the magazine.People".

As her career took off, Hayden began to consume more and more alcohol and opiates. When she woke up in the morning, she could only function normally with alcohol and "drugs and alcohol became something she couldn't live without."

It was also the reason for the collapse of her love with Wladimir Klitschko

“He didn't want to be near me. I didn't want to be around myself either. I was in a cycle of self-destruction,” she said.

Four years ago she made the decision for her daughter to go live with her father.

"Those were really difficult years. Grayness prevailed in my life. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I wanted to be a good mother to her," Panettiere explained.

After contracting jaundice and facing liver failure, Hayden went into eight months of rehab. Last year she underwent trauma therapy and hospital treatment. She stated that she finally found the peace she was longing for.

"I put a lot of effort into myself and I had to be brutally honest. It was not easy at all. But I don't regret even the ugliest things. I feel amazing now. It's like I have a second chance," said the actress. "I'm so grateful to be a part of this world again and I'll never take it for granted again," she added.
