Allowed entry only for Greek citizens and citizens of other countries for essential needs only after obtaining a permit, but also provided they have a negative PCR test, ten-day quarantine in Greece, arrival testing, are part of the measures introduced by Greece tomorrow morning for travelers from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatina, Zambia and Malawi, due to the new strain B.1.1.529, writes Kathimerini.

The commission of epidemiologists in the Ministry of Health of Greece held an extraordinary meeting today, and after their recommendations, the Greek Government made decisions for additional restrictions.

A PCR test taken 72 hours before the trip is mandatory regardless of whether the passenger has been vaccinated or not; permission from the Greek embassies or consulates is required to enter the country; rapid test upon arrival in Greece; ten-day isolation in a quarantine hotel and a new test on the tenth day.

The Greek Ministry of Health added in a statement that so far there are no direct flights from specific countries.

The new measures will take effect tomorrow, at six o'clock in the morning.
