Police in Las Vegas announced today that a gunman has been killed at the University of Nevada after a shooting was reported on the university's campus.

"There are injuries in the shooting at the University of Nevada that have been transported to local hospitals," Las Vegas Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a news conference.

The investigation is ongoing, he added, but did not specify the number of injured.

For now, there is no additional danger on the University campus, police said

Las Vegas police, in a statement posted earlier on the X social media platform, did not elaborate on the circumstances of the incident, nor the number or condition of the victims, and urged residents to avoid the area.
