The heads of the MOC-OA Mr. Stefan and the SOC Mr. Porfirij will hold a joint bishop's liturgy tomorrow in Ohrid

On the occasion of the anniversary of the awarding of the Tomos for autocephaly to the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archdiocese (MOC-OA) by the Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) in the "Saint Sophia" church in Ohrid, a holy bishop's liturgy will be held, which will be officiated by the heads of the MOC – OA y.g. Stefan and SOC Mr. Porphyry, accompanied by several bishops from both churches.
- The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archdiocese invites the Macedonian God-loving people to take a prayerful part in the holy bishop's liturgy on the occasion of the anniversary of the awarding of the Tomos for autocephaly to the MOC-OA by the Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church on June 5, 2023 , on the feast of the Holy Spirit, in the Cathedral of the Ohrid Archbishops "Saint Sophia" in Ohrid. The liturgy starts at 9:XNUMX a.m. - announced the Office of the Synod of the MOC.
At the meeting on May 20, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC made a decision to grant a canonical dispensation to the Orthodox Ohrid Archdiocese (POA) and integrate it into the MOC-OA.
- At the meeting, special attention was paid to the topic of the final resolution of the canonical status of the bishops of the Orthodox Ohrid Archdiocese, in light of last year's decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops to return to canonical status and establish liturgical unity, as well as the subsequent decision to grant Tomos for autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archdiocese. For this purpose, the Council made a decision to grant canonical release of hierarchies to this autonomous church by the SOC and its integration into the Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church in accordance with the holy canons and Constitutions of the two local Churches, as well as the previously reached agreement of the Synods of all three church structures - the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church informed in a statement.

The Serbian Patriarch Porfirij presented an act to the head of the MOC-OA Mr. Stefan, which confirms the decision of the SPC, announced on May 24 after the concelebration of a joint liturgy in the Cathedral in Skopje, with which the SPC approved and gave a blessing for autocephaly of the MOC-OA, ending the 55-year dispute between the two churches.
- By the grace of God we have the opportunity to crown what already exists between us, and that is the unity, which was disturbed at one time, but has been established in the spirit of the Church, and that is the Macedonian Church - Ohrid Archdiocese, that there are not only necessary conditions to be organized in the context of an autocephalous church and that this is the best possible way and method for the life of our Orthodox brothers and sisters in North Macedonia. Therefore, what we have already realized through the service of the liturgy in Skopje, today we feel that we should publish the document called Tomos - said Porfirij after the liturgy in Belgrade on June 5, last year.
