Podolyak: Kiev is ready for negotiations with Moscow, but only on the basis of international law
Ukraine is ready for peace negotiations with Russia, but only on the basis of international law, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian president, Mykhailo Podolyak, said last night.
It is necessary to force Russia to start "real negotiations", Podoljak said, Unian reported.
- Russian propaganda spends a lot of money to create an impression - it is a war, we are ready for negotiations, but Ukraine is not. Negotiations are certainly necessary, but it is important to see under what conditions and on what basis the negotiations will take place. And the main thing of this concept (of international law) is the territorial integrity and subjectivity, the sovereignty of the state - stated Podoljak.
He emphasized that the negotiations will be fruitful only if "the mechanisms to force Russia to peace function".
– There should be much more arms deliveries to Ukraine, especially all restrictions, informal or formal, on strikes on military infrastructure, wherever they are located in Russia, must be lifted. It is also necessary that the economic sanctions work much better than today - he added.
