The Civic Initiative "Better for TetovoWill expand the "front" to the upcoming ones Extraordinary elections for the Council of the Municipality of Tetovo will strive to include as many civil society groups as possible in their list of advisors. However, as they emphasized from this initiative for "Free Press", for them the number of won councilors is not important, but program goals for which they advocate to be a priority of the future council, which are transparency, accountability, protection and development of green areas, modern urbanization of the city.

Elmedina Abdulahi from the initiative "Better for Tetovo", current councilor in the municipality of Tetovo, says that now that they have experience of an election process, in the early elections for the Council will try to include in their initiative all interested groups, people who advocate the same principles for who advocate this initiative.

- We are always open to those who want to join us, and who share the same values with us. Now that our goals have already proved to be practically in the interest of the citizens, I think that more activists will join us. There will be political obstructions but that makes the race even more motivating for citizens who advocate for a cleaner environment and a better middle city. "It does not matter to us how many councilors we win, but our commitments we stand for," Abdullah told the Free Press.

On April 28, the Municipality of Tetova informed the Ministry of Local Self-Government and Finance that the Municipal Council failed to vote on the final account within the legal deadline, thus paving the way for early elections for the Municipal Council.

Former member of the State Election Commission (SEC), Enver Salihi in a statement for "Free Press" says that according to the situation in the municipal Council in Tetovo, elections would be held in the second half of October.

- The conditions required by the Law on Local Self-Government in accordance with Article 75 paragraph 1 item 4 have already been met, but still new elections for the Council of the Municipality of Tetovo cannot be announced automatically. The mayor informs the Ministry of Local Self-Government, a procedure that has already been done according to the mayor of Tetovo and now the Ministry of Local Self-Government informs the Government within 7 days, after which the Government of RSM is obliged to make a decision for dissolution within 30 days of the council and it is published in the Official Gazette. After this act, the President of the Assembly announces elections for the Council of the City of Tetovo. In my opinion, the elections would be held in the second half of October, when the Electoral Code provides for regular elections, because the general deadline from the announcement to the holding of elections is 70 to 90 days, while there is no provision for early dissolution of the council. special and shorter term. "So I think the tactic is to hold the elections in the second half of October, so that no mistake is made in the steps and it can be challenged before the Constitutional Court or any body," Salihi explained.
